Filming a rock band with a crew of 2
Filming a live performance with a crew of 2. How hard can it be?
I’d been asked to help build some promotional materials for the band Fireroad. The band needed some live footage of themselves so I went along to their gig at the Celtic Manor Resort’s Fireworks Spectacular on a cold and wet November night.
This was a low to no-budget shoot and it’s shoots like these that I take as a challenge – what exactly can you come away with at the end of the night without a big crew? On this occasion I had a crew of 2 – that’s including myself.
Of course a crew of 4 or 5 is desirable in order to obtain good coverage but I found out that 2 wasn’t so bad either. It’s true that you can’t be everywhere at the same time but you do the best you can situations such as these, work quickly and see what you come out with.
